Beware Of Herbal Viagra

It's no secret that millions of men all over North America suffer from erectile dysfunction. If they didn't, then sales of prescription drugs like Viagra and Cialis would not be as popular as they are today. Unfortunately, for many men especially those in their middle aged years, drugs like Viagra and Cialis are not an option because of the bad reactions these drugs can have with certain heart medications or blood pressure medications.

More likely than not, you have seen the spam e-mails sent out nearly daily advertising supposedly natural alternatives to Viagra and Cialis, touted as "herbal Viagra." This "herbal Viagra" claims to have the same effect as prescription drugs like Viagra and Cialis in aiding erectile dysfunction without any of the side effects of prescription medications because the ingredients are all herbal and all natural. It is easy to see how many men who are erectile dysfunction sufferers but who can't use prescription drugs would be tempted to fork over a lot of money for "herbal Viagra."

Unfortunately, the sad fact is that in many cases this "herbal Viagra" is nothing more than standard Viagra or Cialis ground up and repackaged. Not only is this completely fraudulent, but it is also dangerous. Men are purchasing what they believe is an all-natural alternative "herbal Viagra" and taking substances that their doctors have advised them against, that could in fact kill them.

A story by MSNBC in 2005 saw a reporter order products touted as "herbal Viagra" and found that two of them actually contained the same pharmaceutical compounds as prescription Viagra and Cialis. Furthermore, these products often contain the same compounds as weight loss drugs that have previously been found to be dangerous and cause heart problems. In fact, very few of the website selling "herbal Viagra" contained any information on the potential side effects of the products or any information on patients who should not use the products due to related health issues.

The truth is that most of the websites selling this so-called "herbal Viagra" or more interested in making money off of men's insecurities than they are in treating actual medical conditions. It's quite telling that many of the same website selling "herbal Viagra" are also selling drugs that are also supposed to cause penis enlargement - more snake oil. The bottom line is that if you suffer from erectile dysfunction, take only drugs, herbal or otherwise, that are given to you by a doctor or qualified holistic practitioner. Don't gamble your health on some herbal Viagra website because you're stressed out that you can't get a hard on.
